Henry's Personal Description (Unit 1 Long Writing)

Henry Kong 1D (8)

Welcome to my blog! This is where you’ll learn all about me - Henry Kong. I’m a 12-year-old secondary school student from Hong Kong. My dad is a tram supervisor and my mum is an assistant. I don’t have any brothers or sisters. I don’t mind though as I don’t have to share toys or food with anyone.

The first thing I want to tell you is my appearance. I have pale skin although I often stay outdoors. I still don’t know why I don’t have tanned skin. I have spiky hair and a pointed face. I’m average in height. My mum always tells me that I’m lean but she also says that I have a great body shape. I’m not sure if I should believe in her because all parents think their children are good-looking.

How about my personality? My friends tell me that I’m outgoing and talkative because I like meeting new friends. I like talking with others so that I can know more about the others. I’m neither adventurous nor energetic. I seldom take new challenges.

I love and appreciate my parents as they have been going through a lot of sacrifices for me. My dad is always busy at work, but he insists on teaching me with my homework when he gets back home. He’s the kindest man I’ve ever met. As for my mum, she always gets scared easily. However, I still remember how she got rid of the cockroach (which was huge and an absolute unit) when I was reading an enthralling piece of fiction before bed.

I like watching some funny videos online and making models such as lego, gundom and warships. My mum likes making models too! She builds shops and small houses! My favourite book of all time is Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. Although Charlie’s adventure is a bit scary, it’s gripping and exhilarating. One day, I would like to visit the chocolate factory as I’m a chocoholic.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog.

Book Recommendation: Charlotte's Web

Title: Charlotte’s Web
Author: E.B. White

What is the story about?
Charlotte’s Web is a true classic that is loved by many children as well as adults. The story explores the themes of love, friendship, sacrifice, life and death.

Fern, a perfect role model for children, begs for father to spare the life of a runt pig, showing tremendous maturity and compassion. The pig, which Fern named Wilbur, stays in Uncle Homer’s barn along with other animals, including a spider named Charlotte who befriends Wilbur. Wilbur, being a pig, was always destined to be slaughtered. So Charlotte devises a clever plan to save him, using her gift of weaving webs.

‘Humble’ and ‘Radiant’ were weaved by Charlotte, quickly catching the attention of the neighbours and community who thought they were some sort of divine intervention, no longer seeing a justification for killing Wilbur. Charlotte proves her loyalty time and time again, keeping her promise to make sure Wilbur stays alive until her final breath. She is the true heroine of the story.

A Short Animated Film

“Winning is great, sure, but if you are really going to do something in life, the secret is learning how to lose. Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, and go on to win again, you are going to be a champion someday.” - William Rudolph
